When Kimberly of Fab Finds Under $50 asked who wanted to participate in the next round of the Traveling Scarf, I wanted to try it out! I missed the last two rounds and was hoping I was able to participate. She even helped us out by pointing out the fact that Affordable Scarves was sponsoring the scarf and their new project Scarves.net had videos of 37 ways to wear a scarf!

I literally watched every video for the rectangle long scarf. I really liked the knot row and rosette neck wrap method and those had not been done before. I live in Houston and our fall weather hasn't really started yet. I didn't want to have a scarf wrapped around my neck when the temp was 85 degrees. The scarf has been worn as a one loop scarf, knotted, double looped, a low tie, in a bow, draped then belted, head scarf, and even a shirt (I was actually thinking about this one)! How many more ways could I think of? As a necklace! I've worn a scarf as a necklace before and wanted to try again.

I found the center of the scarf and tied a knot in it, I then separated the other halves and tied a knot on either side of the middle knot. I wanted the "necklace" to not have too much bulk so I twisted the scarf a bit and then tied it in a knot for the back. I then slipped the brooch pin under the middle knot and viola! I hope you like it!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! This tank is a great find over the weekend at Loft's 50% off sale items, it ended up being $10, unfortunately, it's not online anymore. Did you find any great sales this weekend? I spent some time in Loft and then Target! I didn't get this cardigan from Loft, but they did have something very similar to this recently and I think the only difference was the print, Loft's was a zebra stripe, but this is a leaf pattern.

6 July 10 - Let's Try a Dress

I haven't worn a dress for a while to work because for me, dresses are just so much work. Assets - check, shaved legs - check, hem long enough for office - check, covered bust area - check....dress it is. With pants, I don't have to worry about any of the previously mentioned things. I admire those bloggers and people who don't feel the need to wear Assets/Spanx/something to smooth and suck you in, but I'm just not one of those people. I don't care how flowy the dress or skirt, I'm wearing something under it.

I'm also stepping out of my comfort zone a bit with the flutter sleeves - not exactly sleeveless, but definitely, not much coverage. Depending on where you work, this could be a no-no. But since it's summer and my office is pretty business CASUAL, I'm fine. Since I've put on weight, my arms aren't my favorite body part, but I'm just going to get over it. I know I don't talk about any one's arms unless they are super toned and tight so no one will be giving me a second thought. Sometimes you just have to get over your insecurities and focus on other positive things like these hot pink patent heels. This is the 3rd time in the 5 years I've had these that I'm wearing them. They might be a bit over the top, but I love them!

It's Thursday, but here at my office, most people (excluding me) work flex time and typically are somewhat casual on Thursday's as well since some Thursday's are their Friday's (confused yet?). I decided to dress somewhat casual today and the only thing I really absolutely love about the summer heat in TX is wearing gauzy white tops during these super hot months.

Another bad iphone photo, but I really liked my outfit, so I had to do it. I took some close ups once I got to the office (w/my iphone) so you could see the actual colors and details of my outfit. In my outfit picture, my belt is a little higher than my actual waist but I didn't have time to fix that before snapping the pic...I'm out the door and on my way to work w/my iced chai in hand! No proper outfit post from yesterday (Monday), but I did snap a quick photo of my shoes. Doesn't leopard print make everything better? It does for me!

I wore navy blue pants, this top which has the best little blue stripe detail (it's no longer available online, but will likely be in your local store), and this cardigan. Yes, it is the very same one I wore last week except a different color...I have a problem with multiples, people! The shoes are from Fashion Bug and I scored them for $5!!!

What are your favorite color combos lately? Here are some of my favorites: neutrals, neutrals, neutrals (off white, white, khaki, army green, gold, super light pink, light grey); navy, white, green (I'm finding myself buying more and more navy and green); and grey, navy, burgundy/maroon (I know this can be more of a fall/winter palette, but I love it).

The ladies over at academichic.com put a post up for bloggers (or anyone really) to switch their thinking and dress their best. Dress your best is where you dress to play up one of your favorite body parts/attributes about yourself instead of trying to hide or camouflage what you deem your "problem" areas.

This post (and lots of mine) is all about my waist! Some would say I have a defined hourglass shape and that's why I love to wear belts as much as I can! My waist can sometimes get lost in an outfit if I have a cardigan on (which I do a lot!) and to remedy that, I wear belts.

Another attribute I really do love about myself is my hair. My hair has always been a main focus of me being me! I get lots of compliments on it and I do really feel my best when my hair is looking great.

This pic is a bit out of focus, but you get the idea. My husband was great to take this picture in the morning, but he takes two and calls it a day...I really need to get a tripod!

When I saw this shirt at NY & Co, I kind of loved it. Upon closer inspection, I really hated it...the colors, etc. I have no idea why then I still got the tank, but now, I really like it! It has potential to be paired with so many colors! Speaking of colors, I have a lot going on today with respect to that, but I think it works.

Not much to say about this outfit except....hmmmm....maybe a better angle for the picture next time? I look totally prego in this picture, I'm not, and I don't think I look pregs in person, but who knows.

I really love this dress, it's super casual/comfortable, but I have to be really careful that I wear something underneath the top part of it...don't want everyone at work getting a free show! When you have a large bust, (IMO) you have to be extra careful what you wear and have to be sure to be covered up at all times while at work. I think, unfortunately, women with large bustlines can't get away with all the scoop neck/v neck tops that everyone else can without having something underneath. It just is what it is sometimes. I typically wear a tank or cami underneath everything, anyway, do you?

So, maybe you could move past the weird look I have on my face....or not.

Let's just get the TMI out of the way. This skirt is part of Merona's (Target) Fit Solutions line. I liked the shape of the skirt and figured since I wear Spanx (lie, I wear Assets...same thing though, kind of) under ALL of my dresses or skirts why not just skip that and try this Fit Solutions skirt? YES, I do this...I don't care if it's 100 degrees outside, I will wear them....it's better than lumpy, bumpy. The only time I don't wear them is if I'm wearing tights and then I get the control top ones anyway. Uh.....for me it was a big, fat fail. The lining (assets part) of the skirt is made of nylon and spandex....nylon mostly, and let me tell you nylon rubbing together (here's the TMI part) is just not the best feeling or sound. I know I'm not the only one whose thighs rub together, so I'm over that part, but dang...that nylon hurt me! Thankfully, that day I did not walk around too much, but I will not be wearing this skirt on a super hot day, that's just pain waiting to happen. Plus, the swish, swish, swish of the material rubbing together is just not a good sound. Anyway....other than that, I thought the skirt was cute. Target should really consider making the lining the same material as Sara Blakley makes Assets, just my opinion though.

Another try at the iphone picture....hmmmmm....I don't think we're getting any better at it. I have a shaky hand and apparently my husband does too, but I do think if we had natural light, this might have turned out better. Either way, here it is!

Are you loving LOFT as much as I am lately? There's no other place I love to shop as much as LOFT, and when they have sales, boy, do they have sales! I do order most of my items online from them if they're bottoms b/c I wear a larger size than what they typically have in the stores, but LOFT is good about having so many items on sale, there are a few that I frequent to get the most for my dollar.

15 April 10 Birthday Dinner

I got this dress as part of Loft's 30% off dresses a few weeks back and let me tell you....I went a little off the deep end with the dresses! I really love this one though and thought it was a perfect time to break it out for my birthday dinner. That's right, I'm a tax day baby! My birthday really isn't a big deal to me, but we always go have a special dinner or night out. I did celebrate last weekend with a friend since her bday is just a week before mine. We had a fab time at a local wine bar with a group of our friends. I have to post my dress I wore to that soon. Are birthday's a big deal to you? Do you do anything special or really fun?

I didn't have my camera with me, but who needs one when you have an iphone, right? Well, we'll see.....I think we need some practice! And take a look at these shoes from NineWest...I love them so!

The dress is now on sale for $69.99 and an additional 40% off. All Loft sale items are 40% off and I might have ordered this in black as well...hmmmm. Since it's linen/cotton blend it wrinkles easily, but oh well, it's super cute and I can totally see myself wearing this throughout the summertime as well. So, it looks like the blog is no different from real life....I'm always a "little" late.

Here's a look from last week and I have a feeling that the tights are going to be going to bed soon since we had so much sun this weekend and it was actually HOT at one point. There's no return to cool weather once it gets hot here in Houston...the summers are scorchers and we don't typically have a Spring season.

I got this scarf along with a couple of others from affordablescarves.com and I knew it would probably be my one and only time to wear it here in Texas. Maybe I can take it on my vacation in California I'm going on in a bit since the temps will still be chilly in the evening and in the mornings. This scarf has the grey/black/white thing going on, but on further inspection there was a tiny bit of blue-green. I wore this on my way to work for some added warmth, but took it off once I got there. No pic of that though.

This is what I wore while running errands over the weekend.

There were lots of sales going on this weekend, and of course, I took advantage of them, did you? I typically do not wear makeup on the weekends, unless I'm going out at night or to a party, event, etc. Is your makeup routine the same on the weekends?

I figured this little jacket would get a lot of wear (I got one in navy as well) later this month while I'm in California on vacation. We're going to LA and Santa Barbara for a friend's wedding. The weather is warming up here in Texas and soon I won't be able to wear all the cardigans I bought over the last few months, so sad....

I scored a super cute moto jacked at NY and Co during lunch today that I can't WAIT to wear this weekend. It's similar to this, but it's not faux leather. I guess I'm behind on that trend, but better late than never I guess. I got a few other shirts that were on sale for $7.99 and $14.99, wow, what a deal! Of course I used my coupon that I received via email for $25 off a total of $75, totally worth it!

I started using picnik.com to touch up my photos and am still trying to get the hang of it. If I look a bit too dark in some pictures, it's probably because I have been experimenting!

Yes, this is a question...to all of you! I hope you had a good weekend, did you?

I spent the weekend with my husband "spring cleaning" our apartment. No amount of spring cleaning can keep up with all of my clothes, shoes, scarves, and jewelry. I really need to get organized! Next up is the jewelry, I think I'm going to save that for this weekend and I have some ideas in store.

I saw this story and thought I would share. I typically sell used clothing at garage sales or I'll just donate it. What do you do with your items, do you consign them or try to sell them at the thrift shop?

I have a couple of outfits posts for this week, so I should get them up in the next few days. Today is the 1st workday of the month, so I am extremely BUSY!

After Christmas, my husband and I (wow, husband...ha!) decided we would get on the same cell phone plan and since I literally had one of the oldest phones I have ever seen someone carrying, we would upgrade to iphones as well. This is my first post with pictures from my iphone, they could be better and since I don't have any picture software at work, I think they still need some help, but you get the idea. I blurred out the background a little b/c I promise you, you don't want to see our ugly wallpaper in the kitchen. We rent and well, we don't really ever change anything while we're renting.

Wow, haven't updated the blog in a long, long time! I have still been reading blogs, but have been really busy these last 4 1/2 months since I've been gone. I kind of got "over" taking my picture every day and wearing (what I felt) the same thing all the time. I have a ton of clothes in my closet, but I was just feeling unmotivated, uninspired, and not good enough (in my head) to be updating this blog. So I decided to just take time and figure out what I wanted to do, if anything. I think I am finally going to restart taking pictures, hopefully daily and then updating my blog as time permits. Thanks for the emails and comments wondering where I was!

So, over my "break" here's a few things that happened:

1. My pc got a major virus
2. Got my pc fixed
3. Been working on a MAJOR project at work and working some long hours
4. Got engaged!
5. Got to go onstage with Donnie Wahlberg!!! (of NKOTB)
6. Got married! (VERY short engagement...all of 2 weeks)
7. My sister came to visit and had fun visiting with her.
8. Holiday time...parties, family, friends.
9. My pc got another major virus
10. Got my pc fixed, and it's like new again. (and yes, I had virus protection, etc both times it f'ed up)

That's about it!

I got this dress months ago and have only worn it once. It really is a great summer/spring piece, but for the office, I need to put a cami on under it and a sweater on over it.

Something casual for a day spent lounging, lunching, and going to the movies with my favorite guy. I have never been one to wear a skirt just because, but when I found this one at Target, I thought, "why not?"

I'm definitely scared of knits on the bottom half of my body because let's face it, I have a lot of junk in the trunk. I'm a fan of other people making knits look great and effortless, but I think this skirt isn't something I would ever wear to work.

I blur out the background in my pictures because I typically take my pics right by the little area I have for my doggies. It's not cute, so I just blur it all out: water/food bowls and kennels.

Here's me before the makeup that I apply on the road or in the parking lot at work. I have no clue why I do this other than I wait until the last possible minute to get up every day. It's just a part of my ritual and I'm used to it. I wear contacts mostly, but lately I've been wearing my glasses because my contacts will irritate my eyes some.

Over the weekend I went to the outlet mall here and made my way into the Aldo store. These puppies were on SALE - Score!

Of course, I had to get both the black and natural brown color, they didn't have them in the store, but they can order them for you and it comes with Free Shipping.

I think I seriously have a problem, but I have been dreaming of these shoes since they came out in late May.

The last few days of July I finally placed my Shoedazzle.com order. Here is the shoe I chose (Berlin):

So super cute, right? I thought so. But then I got the Shoedazzle.com email earlier this week and wasn't too in love with any of my choices so I hedged my bet and selected the Send me other Choices option (love this!). My other choices included the Cherie shoe from June, but in Black!

What's a girl to do? Should I #1 Keep the Berlin, July choice #2 Keep the Cherie, August choice or #3 Keep them both? (A girl can never have enough black shoes, you know).

I have issues with buying multiples if it's something I really like and I really do like the Cherie shoe and have gotten tons of compliments on them. Let me know what you think!

What I've Been Doing on My Summer Vacation

Uh, no, I don't have a summer vacation...I work all year, but this summer I've had so much fun spending time being a NKOTB "groupie," acting like I was 10 years old again running through a water park, and generally hanging out with friends.

My first NKOTB stop on their Full Service tour was in Cincinnati, Ohio. Originally, we planned on going to the Noblesville, Indiana show on 06/28/09, but a few days before our concert date, one of the girls just happened to search on tickets for the Cincy show and POW!!! we had 4th row pit seats for Cincy. How did that happen....and how were we really going to do this? I call it my Midwest mini-tour. We flew into Chicago on 06/27/09, drove to Indiana (3 hours), stopped in Noblesville, freshened up and got ready for our drive to Cincinnati (2 more hours). It was a lot of driving, most of which I did (I'm a control freak, I can't help it!), but SO worth it! I had no clue that when you go to the Cincinnati venue, you dip into Kentucky for all of 5 minutes...so basically, I visited 4 states in two days (I guess technically 5 since I started out in Texas)! Just to give you a taste, this is how close I was to the stage in Cincinnati.

Yes, that is me and my huge Kool-Aid smile with a sign like I'm 13 years old. My friends were all into the signs and I was like, "uh, no" but when we got to the concert, I tell you, the 13 year old in me took over.

We drove back to Noblesville, IN, got some sleep then did it all again the next day. I didn't get to meet up with Kimberly, but did make a pit stop at H&M, had to take advantage of where I was! Our seats were not great for the Indy concert, but we did get to go to the meet & greet. I love Joe McIntyre!

I love ShoeDazzle! Thanks Kimberly for letting me know about this fab site.

I joined last month and got my fabulous Cherie shoes in the mail not but about 5 days after selecting them. And can I just tell you how many compliments I've received???? About a million (okay, stretching the truth, but it's A LOT!)!

If you don't know all about ShoeDazzle, take a look around their site and learn all you want to know. But basically, here is the info: you sign up with your username/password, answer some questions about your personal style, input your credit card info, and viola!, you're in! The lovely stylists over at ShoeDazzle use your answers to the style questions to pick out 5 styles of shoes for you each month. Each pair is $39 (which includes the shipping + handling) and it's a no obligation type of deal. If for any reason you don't like or want the shoes the stylists have selected, you can opt to skip a month and/or you can request another group of shoes to select from. I think this is a win-win on my part. The shoes are not designer shoes, they're mainly Michael Antonio brand, but how fun is it to be in a "shoe of the month" club? I love the concept and so far have had no issues.

I will point one thing out though that I just learned this month. If you do not either make a selection or opt out for the month by the 5th of the month, ShoeDazzle will still charge your card, but you will be issued a shoe credit good for another pair of shoes. This means, maybe you did not get to either select your shoe or you just weren't sure, you can get 2 pair the next month or just take longer to decide what you really want to do. Tons of questions are answered in their FAQs section, I just did not obviously read them thoroughly!

I love ATL's final sale items...you can score some great deals at price points of $4.88-$19.88, of course your best bet is to try everything on so you can be sure it fits properly. When Forever 21 announced they were going to have a plus size line, I was kind of excited. I know I can't fit into the "regular" sized of F21, so I had some hope. I typically wear misses sizes, but have also had luck in the women's or plus section on bottoms.

Here's the deal....Faith 21 is truly NOT a line for plus size ladies. It's tailored to a junior plus and stops at size 16....uh, isn't that considered misses still? It is to me, but I'm not a junior and haven't been for a long time. The quality of the clothing is not great, but I didn't and don't expect much from a store that sells me a dress for $15. It's along the lines of Dots (if you've shopped there before), but I will say that they do have some pieces that you can find in both juniors and plus size. Their selection is limited, but they update the website a couple of times a week and have more available online than in my store I go to. I would recommend trying everything on if possible because their sizing is not consistent and can and will throw you off a bit. I tried on a dress in XL and it fit me, but then another dress (similar style) only the the 2XL fit me...you get what you pay for.

Faith 21 does have cute, trendy clothing, with some casual and laid back pieces as well. I really love their accessories....they're so affordable, and they have some great, trendy pieces. Even though their clothing is not made that well, I will most likely continue to go because I do love a great bargain and I like to try some of the "of the moment trends."

Playa Trip

So if you read Hill's blog (which you should!), you know she got married in Playa last week. The trip was fun and relaxing and I can't wait to get back there. Here are some pics of what I wore while I was there. Unlike Hill, I don't think I ever actually put on a full outfit except for in the evening. My day wear consisted of a bathing suit, cover up, hat, shades, and jewelry! I was one of the only ones I saw at the resort who had accessories on! The saline pool and the ocean water did tarnish my earrings, but since I got them at Forever 21, I was fine with it, I actually expected it.

Necklace - Forever21, when I saw Ally's, I HAD to get it. The store by me didn't have it, but I ordered it online. I now know the store by me is just a bit behind of what's online.

I used double sided fashion tape to tape the dress to my bra so it wouldn't show.

Take a look at Jamie and Frank, I love Jamie's casual but flirty smocked, embroidered tank and khaki shorts with heels. Frank's resort style is so dead on! Not many men can wear white pants, but he looks great! They are a classic and fabulous couple!

Gone For A Bit

Hey blog friends!

I'm going to take a little break from the blog. I feel bad that I haven't posted in a bit, but work schedule and projects have been so crazy. And in the personal life department, I've literally had weekends booked March - June of friend's weddings, showers, birthdays, etc. I'm so lucky to have wonderful family and friends, it's just been so busy! I haven't even been taking pics of my daily outfits because I don't feel like I even have time in the mornings then when I've finally been getting out of work, I just want to go home. I think after the first part of June my schedule will get back to a more normal routine for me, so I'll start posting sometime then.

No outfit post for today or even yesterday...I forgot to take my pic yesterday. But, I'm not at work today due to flooding in our area. Here is what my street looked like at 7am. Nice, huh? They closed our office because the water is so high in the area, I'm getting caught up on reading blogs, etc.

That's the BF's truck on the right, at one point the water was up on the front tires!

I scored this dress at Ross for $5.99!!! That was the "normal" price, so imagine if it was on clearance. I typically hate going into Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, etc. The store (imo) always seems picked over and a total mess, but sometimes when I'm with a couple of friends or more often alone, I can get my mind right and go in there. I tend to only buy dresses at these stores because I hate trying stuff on!

Using Kimberly's idea to use the self belt to tie outside of the cardigan...I like the way it turned out!

This denim is ultra light weight and very easy. We don't have Kmart's in Houston, but when I went to the valley in March I bought these.

As far as a dress a day week....not interested in doing it again. I'm not into dresses and feel better in pants, but I do think dresses are cute and I'm trying to buy more and incorporate more in my wardrobe, I know the BF loves them so I'm going to try to get out of my pants rut.

So my pursuit of VIP tickets didn't go well. We literally had 4 people on a conference call all trying online to get in for the top tier VIP tickets...no luck. They sold out so we had to settle for the second level VIP tickets. This means no picture with the guys, but at least I will be at the concert. I'm trying not to be too greedy (it's hard!!) and realize that everything happens for a reason. Yes, I am really that upset about concert tickets! I'll live and we have the top tier VIP for the day before in Dallas, so that's good!

I'm going to be soooo busy this week with my new project at work, month end close, family, and a party at the end of the week!

The Britney concert was really good. I was a bit disappointed that there was no screen so we could see her up close and personal, I would be really mad if I had the nose bleed seats, but we didn't. They had a screen, but it was part of her show and would play different clips of footage, and not show her performing as it was happening. Her costumes were great and the dancers were amazing (of course!). I have to say though....it was no NKOTB! *You're right Zuzuli! But, I know that's my totally boy crazy self thinking. I saw her before on her Onyx Hotel tour and I personally thought that was better, but this was still a great show.

I'm so thankful the weekend is almost here! Tonight the BF and I are going to meet up with some friends for drinks and then go see Les Miserables...I can't wait. Les Mis has been on my "want to see" list for a long, long time so it should be good. No idea what I'm going to be wearing to the show, but I'm sure it will be a dress or skirt.

I love this shirt from Banana Republic! Even though for today's outfit, I have the sleeves covered, they're these cute flutter sleeves that just give the shirt something more. I would have never thought I'd wear a shirt with stripes, but I think the thin stripes work. I also couldn't ever tell what color the stripes were. When I put black against the shirt, it looks black, but it also could be a super dark navy. Today when I took a picture of the necklaces close up, it does appear the shirt is navy....yikes!

Woke up late today...yikes! I read other blogs where you ladies say that putting on a dress is so easy for you and something you do when you're running late....not for me. Putting on a dress or skirt is so much effort! Did I shave my legs? Spanx or tights? Will my skirt ride up at all during the day? Too much for me, something like today's outfit is what I wear when I'm late...and the pic proves it...blurry! Since I have big hips and butt, sometimes the hem of my dress or skirt looks shorter in the back....I never wear short skirts to work, but I'm always afraid I'm going to be walking and the back is just going to ride all the way up to my butt!

I love CAbi, but to tell you the truth, most of the reason I go to the CAbi show is to socialize. I think their clothes are very cute, but not so affordable. This cardigan was regularly $98, but since I got a hostess discount, I paid half price for it. It's nice and all, but it's not made out of any extraordinary material. In any case, a CAbi show is fun to see all the new designs and catch up with friends.

It's Been Too Long....

I know I said I would resume regularly scheduled posts, but I have good reasons on why I haven't quite yet...

#1 I started a new project at work and I've moved my office, been training, and been trying to learn new things...work gets in the way of blogging, people!

#2 The "great" ppl at AT&T disconnected my DSL a couple of weeks ago, I got it back and then they disconnected it again because I was going to get U-verse...uh, that didn't work out on their end and I have FINALLY gotten my internet back at home yesterday!!!

#3 I'm lazy...it's a fact

03 Tuesday Outfit

I'm glad it's colder than usual here in TX, so I can wear my new cape/coat! I had been watching this one online for quite a while. I tried one on exactly like this at Macy's, and it was very cute, but I didn't want to pay $120 when I had plenty of jackets/coats already. But, when I saw there was this one at Target.com, I really wanted one. I watched and waited and watched and waited and figured the clearance price of $11.24 was great! So, what do I do since it was such a great price? Order both the black and grey one! I might take the black one back since the grey is so dark. I know it's only $11.24, but I really don't need two (wow...I think this is a big moment for me!). I really should have worn long sleeves today, but oh well.

I hope everyone's weekend was great, I had a packed schedule on Saturday, but it was fun!

So, I've been browsing more and more daily outfit/fashion blogs and really getting great ideas of how to put more outfits together, mostly the same kind of "uniform," but just a bit more of colors and pattern mixing I wouldn't have thought of on my own. 27 Pattern Mixing

This is my first ever attempt at pattern mixing. I really don't have the eye for it, and I was nervous I was going to look like a crazy person. Let me know what you think...crazy person or good first attempt? I think I need to read up on this subject and even though I watch "What Not To Wear" I still have no clue. If you haven't noticed, I'm a solids girl with an occasional pattern.

I also had to hurry this morning because I was snoozing the alarm for a while. My friend Jamie, had all of us over to her house last night to help finish off some wine that she had left over from her birthday party. It was lots of fun and I love catching up with everyone! Unfortunately, I stayed out a bit too late for a school night and was paying for it this morning. Now that I'm at work though, I feel much better!

I'm glad that the weekend is approaching, and this one will be busy for me! I'm going to a friend's CAbi party to see their new Spring line, let's see how much damage I do.

This is another "spring-y" outfit with the colors, I ended up taking the necklace off because when I got to work, I just felt like it was too much. The white ruffle collar shirt underneath is s/s and a button up. This would be a purchase I really should have contemplated longer...my initial reaction was "hey, it's on clearance for $3, I can always use a white shirt with ruffles!" I typically wear a L in tops unless it's a button up, then I need an XL to make sure the buttons actually keep the girls inside. I didn't try this top on and the buttons pucker open in the chest area. But, since it was new and a clearance purchase from a while ago, my only resort is to hide it under a cardigan. The top actually has seaming details, but that's under the cardigan...oh well, better luck next time!

Wrap or faux wrap shirts and dresses are a girls best friend. They are for me, but not so much in pictures. I think the ruching on the side of any faux wrap shirt I wear does nothing for me in pictures and makes me look kind of sloppy (I said this last week too), but in person, this shirt accentuates my smaller waist. I'm wearing the scarf to the side for a little flair and to change it up.

I really like these shoes I got from Payless and I would say the only downfall of buying cheap shoes is they squeak when you walk! I don't know if this is because they're new and I need to break them in a bit, but I've had other cheap shoes and they do the same thing.

This morning when I got up at 4:30am, I realized my power was out! I set my cell as my alarm, so I went to the gym (yea, me...now let's see how many more days I can do this!) and thankfully when I got home, the power was back on. Doing everything by candlelight is no fun and after all the "fun" I had during Hurricane Ike, I'll pass!

The last time I wore this sweater was back in September...I always repeat my bottoms because they are limited, but as far as tops...I have a whole closet full of them! I had trouble last time trying to think of what else to wear with this, and I chose another white shirt, but the white shirt has a lot of small details to it, some that you can't pick up in pictures. I've tried my best, so let me know what you think!

I also splurged a bit in retail therapy this weekend...everything was on sale and low cost, so I feel okay about it. Right now at Payless, they're having their BOGO sale and I bought these shoes and you know me and my multiples, I had to have the same pair in black! Two pair of shoes for $30...that's a win in my book!

Apparently, lots of things to say today (5 to be exact!)

#1 I'm trying to channel Spring here and mix it up by pairing some colors and patterns I wouldn't normally try. BTW, this pic was taken after a long day at work, so my yellow shirt looks rumpled....and my head makes a surprise appearance today!

#2 Did everyone watch the Oscars? I did and everyone is hating on Miley's dress, but I really liked it along with Marisa Tomei's dress. That's my 2 cents for the Oscars.

#3 Has anyone been shopping at their local Target? If so, have you noticed that since Isaac Mizrahi's exit and new location at Liz Claiborne that Target has tried ramping up their "new" Merona Collection line? It's different from the regular Merona brand, with the added word of Collection on the tags. I know IM couldn't have taken his whole team to LC, and these Merona Collection pieces have a major IM feel (in my opinion).

Okay, I'm totally running out of ways to tie these scarves! I've watched the videos, read the instructions, but maybe it's just me, I always feel like I'm choking! I'm going to stick it out though and I have my next two outfits kind of planned, so I should be fine.

Have you ever set your alarm, not heard it or maybe turned it off, but not get up? When you finally get up, you're like, "OMG!!!!" That was me this morning. Apparently, I turned my alarm off and snuggled back into bed....when I finally got up it was 7:15 am and I needed to be showered, dressed, and to work by at least 8:30! It wasn't enough time for me, but somehow I managed and I even took the dogs out! Maybe I need 2 alarms...I used to do that.

I think this wrap shirt is so cute and versatile, but for me it doesn't photograph well. Maybe it's because I kind of lean when taking my daily pics, but in all of my pictures it wasn't sitting flat and instead looked bunched up and wrinkled. I've made sure that in person, it's flat, so wishing it would photograph that way!

17 A Scarf A Day Week - Tuesday

This is my favorite scarf from the lot that Athena sent me. Of course because it's animal print! After this picture I changed up the scarf and just "threw" it around my neck in a kind of messy, I-meant-to-do-this way. The way I had it in the picture (I call it cowboy style) wasn't the cutest I figured out after seeing the picture, but I still decided to post.

16 A Scarf A Day Week

Since Athena from Fledgling Fashionista had her scarf giveaway, I've only worn three of them (I think). She was so generous with the amount of scarves she sent and I've never been a scarf girl before, I figured I needed to challenge myself to get some wear out of these lovely scarves! So, this week, I'll be featuring some of the scarves Athena sent me, and I'll try to wear them in a unique way every day. Notice I said, "try," I'm not very creative when it comes to scarves and I've used both Sal's (Already Pretty) and Ally's (Cute on the Cheap) info on different ways to tie a scarf. We'll see how I do! You want to join me?

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day and weekend! I personally think it's kind of commercial, but I did enjoy spending the day with the BF and he even humored me by going to a "chick flick" since it was Valentine's day weekend.

BTW, I'm still on my quest for wearing all my new clothing pieces. I'm not as good as I wish I had been because just this weekend, I headed to Target and saw that some of their faux wrap shirts were now on clearance. I bought 2 for $7 each. I know, I know....I'm bad. But, seriously, I have not been going to the mall (hello...NY and Co...still have some GC left!), Old Navy or ON.com, and haven't been making weekly trips to Target. My clearance purchase at Target was for a trip to get a V-day card and I only looked at the clearance! I think that's progress!

13 Borrowing Another Look

When I saw this picture of America Ferrera in InStyle, I thought, "why don't I wear one of my white shirts like that?" And so I did...today. I don't have a thin, braided belt, so I just used one that I had. This pic from InStyle, is from last August, but can be worn any time of the year. Cat from Thrifty Muse left a comment with the P.S. question of "has anyone ever told you that you look like America Ferrera?" Cat, no one has told me that, but I'll take it because she's so damn cute!

12 Borrowing a Look

I loved both versions of this look from Missi of Domestic Sophisticate and OTG of What That Girl Wears, that I had to "borrow" the look as well.

In my case, I just purchased the mustard color v-neck tee from Old Navy's super clearance for $2.99, I had the other pieces already. I will say that I think the picture actually looks better than I felt it did in person. The mustard with purple worked and looked great on both Missi and OTG, but as for me, I think in pics it looked okay, but in person I wasn't feeling the outfit. That translated to me slouching and not being that confident on this day. Isn't it crazy how clothes can make you feel like a million bucks or want to slink away for the day?

How can you not buy clothes when the price is that low?

11 Stepping Out of My Zone

I love print...mostly on other people. I'm drawn to print when I go shopping, but I rarely ever actually end up purchasing printed clothing. I've done better lately, but this shirt is a big step out of my comfort zone. I love the colors, shape, and feel of it, so I decided, "why not?" The price tag of $6.99 didn't hurt either!

10 My 100th Post!!

Wow...I can't believe I've posted so much, or that I had so much to "show" or "say." Since it was my 100th post, I decided to #1 wear animal print (love it!) and #2 wear the red heels already with the animal print. This is the same type of outfit I've worn before, but with black, white, and red. I initially had a black pencil skirt on, but it was too much for work, of course the BF said..."wow, that looks great!" but when I looked in the mirror I was like, oh no...not for the office.

I've Been Tagged

I've been tagged by the fab Kimberly over at Fab Finds Under $50 to show my blogspots! I also have a couple of places I blog from...home and the office (yikes, I know!).

Here's the 1st: The Office

I'm lucky enough to have my own office (especially since I'm a consultant), but here is where I sit every day to get my work done. I have a table and two chairs in front of my desk for any meetings I have (none), but it's pretty standard. Behind me is another table that I have some stuff on, but nothing too exciting. My door is closed so I could take the picture without someone becoming suspicious of me! I don't have any personal stuff at work because I'm a consultant, but I've been there for about a year and a half working on major projects. Dual monitors (necessary) to get the job done! A Lemonade cup from the rodeo that gets filled about 3x a day to drink all that water! I'm not a lefty, but I trained myself to work the mouse with my left hand so I could give the right one a break....no carpal tunnel here!

Here's the 2nd: My home (2nd bedroom that is now an office/video game room

Am I the only one who doesn't really care for laptops? I think I might be. I don't know what it is about them, but I've never been a fan, so I have an old school desk (Target), PC (Dell), a Bodybugg (that I need to get to 100% of use soon), and my old paychecks/tax return info. I filed my taxes last week, but yet to clean this stuff off. You'll see on the right had side in that plastic bag...that's Rosetta Stone, so I can finally speak Spanish. I can understand, read, and write it, but I can't get those verb tenses 100%! I also have some boxes on either side of the desk that still need to be unpacked from my move (ummmmm....back in November??? uh, yea)...I'm lazy, what can I say?

An extra pic so you can see why it's the "video game" room...the BF sitting on the floor because the small TV is on another box (yea, I'm classy like that) and those boxes haven't been unpacked, but he HAS to play his new PS game. That cutie in his lap is Napoleon. We had to snap a pic of this because Napoleon never sits in his lap, but this day was so excited to see BF and wanted to sit with him.
