28 Grey Outside

It's so grey outside, I wasn't feeling very festive today. The only color I have in my outfit is my shoes and even with them, the color is so rich, you don't really notice them too much.

Today's Outfit
Grey tank top - Target (new)
Black shawl neck cardigan - JCP (new)
Black/white tweed(ish) pants - Forth and Towne
Maroon/red heels - Payless (on sale for $10 and new)
Grey/white/black scarf (as belt) - Target
Silver and black necklace - NY and Co

The tank is kind of blousey and has this two tiered ruffle that kind of goes into a diamond shape. I thought I was going to be able to take the ruffle out, but when I did, it looked like I had a napkin around my neck because I was getting ready to eat some lobster or something! I immediately tucked it back in!

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday (yea, mid-week!) and thanks for reading my blog!

27 Tuesday's Outfit

Nothing exciting here, but I really do love this top with the ruffle neckline....I seriously love just about anything with some ruffles!

Today's Outfit
Purple ruffle top - Kohl's (new)
Pin stripe pants - Old Navy (new)
Grey faux suede heels - IM, Target

Wasn't sure if I really love the neckline with the tie or tell me. In the pic, I have it tied, but I have two smaller pics with the tie and no tie detail.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by to read my blog!

26 New Clothes Monday, Part II

I'm continuing on getting all my new clothes worn this next week as well. So I truly have a clean slate to start with and rewearing and remixing my clothes.

Today's Outfit
White v-neck 3/4 sleeve - Merona, Target
Purple and grey cardigan - NY and Co (new and super clearance)
Grey pants - NY and Co (new)
Grey peep toe wedges - Payless (new)
Grey patent belt - Charming Charlie
Purple multi scarf - Target

I scored 3 pair of heels this weekend at Payless for $37...such a great deal! I'm still on the pursuit to find great weekend shoes (see Friday's post) and I think these grey wedges will work for some weekends. I'm still very open to suggestions, so please let me know what kind of shoes you wear on the weekends!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

23 The Weekend's Almost Here!

So glad it's Friday...I feel like I just need to sleep, sleep, sleep!

I know it's still winter (technically), but yesterday it got up to like 75 degrees, and so far this morning it seems like it will probably get up to 80 today. I decided to pair my red and navy stripes to get that nautical look. I love the nautical style, but never have the guts to wear it for fear I really will look too sailor-ish. But, I really do wish I had some pants with the sailor buttons on them!

Today's Outfit
Navy/White striped v-neck - NY and Co (this is new, but was on sale for like $7)
Red s/s cardigan - Loft (this is new too, see this where I wore the same, but in a different color...I have a problem with multiples, people!)
Dark rinse jeans - Merona, Target
Red peep toe wedges - Ross
Silver tear drop necklace - NY and Co

Speaking of the weekend....what kind of "weekend" shoes do you all wear? I sometimes have issues on the weekends because I really wear heels every, single day I work and even on the weekends when I go to a movie, have drinks, a party, etc. So during the days on the weekends, I tend to be at a loss for shoes that are comfortable but stylish. I do wear these red wedges out and about on the weekend, I think they're the perfect height. I have a few pair of flats, but honestly, my feet hurt more from wearing flats all day than they do if I wear heels all day. Give me some suggestions or what you wear!

Have a fabulous weekend and thanks for reading my blog!

22 The Sweater Is New (Thursday)

Only one item that's new today. I just picked up two pair of pants from the alterations I'll be wearing those some time next week. Yea that it's already Thursday!
Today's Outfit
Cream 3/4 crew neck - Merona, Target
Argyle cardigan - Merona, Target (on clearance for $6!!)
Army Green twill pants - Merona, Target
Brown woven belt - Target
Brown boots - Two Lips,
Gold multi earrings - Banana Republic

A Target outfit....can't go wrong with that! And I don't know what's up with the picture...looks like my pants might be too tight, but I assure you they are not...I guess it's just the fact that they're twill and they wrinkle so quickly! And am I the only one who isn't crazy about crew neck shirts? I feel like I'm being choked...I guess that's why I couldn't wear the scarf yesterday for too long.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog!

21 New Clothes Wednesday

Have any of you noticed that Loft is now carrying another "brand" of clothing besides just the standard ATL clothes? The top I have on today is from their other brand, Trulli, and I really love it! I haven't researched anything on this, but was wondering if any of you all had noticed that too?

I had on this great scarf from Athena's giveaway, but when I got to the office, I felt weird, so I took it off. I'm not really sure if this even "goes" with the outfit, so you all tell me...what do you think?

Today's Outfit
Magenta sheer top - Loft (see detail of neckline below)
Navy pin stripe pants - Old Navy (see detail below)
Grey belt - Charming Charlie
Scarf - from Athena via the scarf giveaway (see detail below)
Navy pumps - Nine West, Shoe Cents

20 New Stuff Tuesday

It's official...I have a uniform. I knew I had a lot of cardigans, but really just noticed I wear them every day! I don't know what it is about them, I just love them. My uniform is shirt or cami under cardigan with there's a spin because I have a skirt on, but usually it's the uniform. I'm showing both looks with and without a cardigan. And check out my cute new necklace from Loft that I scored for like $4!

Today's Outfit
Stripe l/s shirt - NY and Co
Pink cardigan - DressBarn
Grey pencil skirt - Old Navy
Black Tights - Merona, Target
Black peep toe Mary Janes - Newport News
Multi bead necklace - Ann Taylor Loft
Grey belt - Target

Reader Question via Comments

Tiltedhalo had a question via Comments about Spanx:
tiltedhalo said...
I love that color combination as well. I have alot going on round bout the mid-section so I stay away from belts. You look great! Oh and your doggies are so cute. Does anyone know if Spanx really works? What about this infomercial I've been seeing - Kymora?

Okay, so the first part of the comment wasn't about Spanx, but that's the full comment, and first, Thank You to tiltedhalo for reading my blog!

First, belts: I think if you carry your weight in your midsection wearing a belt can help create that cinched in or hourglass shape and helps you create the illusion of a smaller waist. The key is to get a belt that fits don't want something that's going to cinch you in so much to where you can't breath! I think wider belts tend to look good on people who carry their weight in the mid section, but the key is to just try out the look!

Second, Spanx:
Spanx....oh, I LOVE them! Everyone I know wears matter what your size is. My sister who is all of 105 pounds wears them, I wear them, some of the other lovely ladies who blog (see their blogs to the right) love them, and if you need celebrity endorsements, I've heard Oprah, Jessica Alba, and I think Anne Hathaway say they all love and wear Spanx. If we're getting technical, I actually wear Assets, which are made by Sara Blakely, but they are the more affordable "sister" of Spanx. You can get Assets at Target, but they do not have the range of products as Spanx has.

As for Kymora, I haven't seen this and when I googled it, I think it's actually, "
Kymaro." I have never tried anything like this, but has anyone else? Maybe one of the other readers or bloggers can help you out on this one! My problem area is really the hip/butt/thigh range that Assets take care of, but I'm hopeful that someone else has some comments about Kymaro for you!

A product I have heard great reviews of is,
Yummie Tummie, so you may want to check that out!

Thanks again, Tiltedhalo, and I hope I have helped with your question! If you have any more questions, please feel free to email me!

Did anyone else cut off control top pantyhose before Assets and Spanx were "invented?" I swear, my sorority sisters and I could have made a killing inventing Spanx b/c we used to just cut off control top pantyhose when we wanted to have some "control" but not wear tights or pantyhose!

19 New Clothes Monday

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that everyone who lives in an area that is experiencing cold weather bundled up and kept warm!
My weekend was good, very relaxing and spent returning some items that I previously purchased. I've been shopping all the Ann Taylor Lofts in my area and got some amazing deals last week and have some from NY and Co as well. In an effort to "shop my closet" I'm going to be wearing all my new clothes in the next couple of weeks. I'll of course mix them with items I already have, but I do not take full advantage of all of my clothes and I need to!

I'm starting my closet "transformation", if you will, with switching over all my hangers to those flocked ones (a la Huggable Hangers), but mine are just the BBB ones. I joke...need about 300 more hangers. This sounds unreasonable, but I assure you, it's the truth. I have one walk in closet dedicated to tops, the other walk in has pants/skirts on half of it and the other half is dresses/jackets. I'll be in the "transformation" mode for the next couple of weeks as I take advantage of the BBB coupons that everyone has. Pics once I'm done, hopefully!

Today's Outfit
Sheer multicolor ruffle top - Ann Taylor Loft ($9.88 final sale + 25% off of that!)
Green s/s lightweight sweater - Ann Taylor Loft
Black slacks - Forth and Towne
Black Oxfords - Payless
Rhinestone necklace - Ann Taylor Loft ($6.88 final sale +25% off of that!)

This outfit can be worn in the spring as well, so I'll get some good use out of this one. I love the multicolor ruffle of my new favorites in my closet!

15 I Told You I Loved...

Animal Print...I love it! I kind of think even with the animal print today, this outfit is a little bland...I guess the brown skirt, tights, and shoes. I tried on red heels, but felt like it was too much for the office...what do you think?

Today's Outfit
Tan cami - AGX
Brown Animal Print cardi - NY and Co (oh, and you know I got this in the other color too)
Brown skirt - Kohl's
Brown tights - Merona, Target
Brown heels - Nine West, Shoe Cents (same as the pair I wore yesterday...multiples, I tell you!)
Red belt - NY and Co

I Won, I Won!

The very lovely and gracious Athena, over at Fledgling Fashionista, had a little giveaway on her blog and I was one of the winners! Athena was cleaning house and had an abundance of scarves and I was one of the lucky ladies whose name got picked! Thanks, Athena, my box arrived and I couldn't have wished for more gorgeous scarves! I especially love the animal print one....will be sporting that around, very soon! Check out Athena's blog as she mentioned that there may be another giveaway coming soon.

14 Surprise!

No exciting news or anything. The surprise is the fact that two of my little dogs wanted to be in the picture with me this morning! I had the BF take the pic this morning and instead of being straight up and down, I'm a little angled...I'm not leaning, that's his positioning of the camera. But, Belle and Vader were too cute to pass up the pic. I know they look demonic because I didn't fix the red eye, but I didn't have time today. I assure you, only Vader is demonic...he's moody and bad!

Today's Outfit

Silver cowl neck tissue tee - Mossimo, Target
Navy cardigan - Merona, Target
Navy pin stripe pants - Old Navy
Navy pumps - Nine West, Shoe Cents
Grey patent belt - Charming Charlie
Multi strand silver necklace - NY and Co

13 My Statement (Take 1)

I'm absolutely into the Statement Necklace or jewelry. I love this and this. I just personally haven't found anything that I love and that is affordable (to me). I'm very funny when it comes to jewelry....I love it, but I refuse to pay over $20 for any single piece. It's not real, it's not "important" to me, I'll like it for a little while then get bored with it. There are many affordable places to shop for accessories here in Houston. We have Charming Charlie, Sam Moon, and a whole street (Harwin) that has little shops up and down where stores sell accessories. I got my Statement Necklace (Take 1) at Target. I call it Take 1 because I do plan on finding something that is a bigger Statement!
Today's Outfit
Cream color 3/4 crew neck - Merona, Target
Cream color ruffle cardigan - Merona, Target
Brown trousers - Forth and Towne
Red pointy toe heels - Shoe Cents
Statement necklace - Target

12 Monday's Outfit

I didn't want to get out of bed's so comfy!

I scored some great deals this weekend at Loft, they are having an additional 25% off of already marked down items. I also FINALLY received my NY and Co package that I ordered on Christmas Day!!! It took Forever! I don't know what I was thinking on some of the items I purchased....lots of them have to go back to the store, but that just means I can pick out some other great stuff. I swear, I think I need a 12 step program for shopping great deals.

Monday's Outfit
Purple and grey v-neck babydoll top - Loft
Purple s/s sweater - NY and Co
Grey wide leg pants - Forth and Towne
Grey/silver heels - Shoe Cents

10 Party Time

I went to a friend's birthday party last night. It was so much fun! Her theme was "Sex and the City" based and there were martini glasses everywhere with SATC playing in the background of her living room. Everyone had a great time and we were all dancing to the great music.

Party Outfit
Purple Dress - JCPenney
Burgundy t-strap Shoes - Nine West, Macy's
Gold lariat necklace - NY and Co

When I first saw this dress at JCP, I was drawn to it because I love the color purple. I had a friend with me and she was like, "uh, no." I get that it's not everyone's favorite, but I really do think the shape of the dress went well with my body type. The BF liked it though and always thinks I should wear more dresses and skirts. I feel a little disco-ish in it, but I had a good time and was glad I got to finally wear this dress!

Whenever we have parties, we (group of girlfriends) typically have a Picture Wall. Some might say it's a little prom-ish, but it's always so much fun and everyone stops by for a photo-op to make some great memories. Here is the BF and my picture at the Picture Wall.

09 Connect the Dots

Here's my attempt at polka dots. I'm not normally a fan...I like the way they look on other people, but I feel weird in them. I figured that since I'm only wearing the dots as an accessory, maybe it will help me break out of my fear of them.

Today's Outfit
Brown 3/4 sleeve top - Merona, Target
Dark rinse, boot cut jeans - Mossimo, Target
Polka Dot scarf (worn as belt) - Target
Rosebud heels - Carlos Santana, Macy's
Brushed gold disk necklace - NY and Co

The jeans are on sale at Target this week and even though these are average length, I'm not sure why in the picture they are showing so much skin, they really do cover up my foot. I need to go and get some short length as well so I can wear those with flats. I ended up buying these because the other ones I have are too big now, and the fact that they have some stretch makes them even bigger.

I really like Carlos Santana shoes...some of his designs can be a bit wacky and too much for me, but for the most part I think they're trendy with some "classic" styles. These and the shoes from yesterday are the same style, and happen to be some of his lower heels. A few years ago when I went out dancing with some friends in San Antonio, I was wearing some very strappy Santana 4 1/2 inch heels (very similar to these) and slipped and fractured my foot.....yikes! I have vowed that those shoes (along with the 2 other colors I's all about multiples!) would be saved for a time when I felt more confident about the 4 1/2 inch heels. They're too cute to part with! The boot I had to wear for about 4 months was not so cute and finding lower heels was a challenge for me, but I did it!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend...I have a friend's party to attend on Saturday, so pics of the outfit later this weekend. Other than that, I'll be relaxing, maybe checking out the Bride Wars movie, and cleaning the house.

08 Just a Pop of Color

I have another couple of outfits to post when I get home tonight, but here's what I'm wearing today...

Thursday's Outfit

Black ruched sleeve turtleneck - DressBarn
Black trousers - Forth and Towne
Black fishnet trouser socks - Merona, Target
Green and black faux snakeskin pumps - Carlos Santana, Macy's
Green and black square scarf - From Athena via OTG's Accessory swap
Black woven belt - NY and Co

I know the greens in the scarf and shoes don't match, but I figured they were far enough away from each other that it was fine. I was wondering how I was going to wear this scarf, and decided I should try it as a bracelet!

Here's a close up of the shoes....I love these heels and they've been part of my wardrobe for about 6 years now, when I first discovered them, I wanted to purchase every color that they offered in this shoe, but I settled on the green faux snakeskin and some pink ones that I will try to incorporate into my outfit soon. I haven't worn these shoes in at least 2 years, so I'm glad I broke them out!

Happy New Year!!!!

I hope everyone had an awesome New Year's Eve! I know myself and my friends had a great time! Here's some pics that show that. You can tell which pics were taken in the early evening and then later....yikes! We all went to dinner at this great sushi place, Zake, that had a dj and enjoyed conversation, sushi, and drinks. Then we headed to The Davenport, a martini bar, that is cozy and quiet, but not when our group got there!

NYE Outfit

Black front twist dress - Dots (seriously, this dress was $9!) You can't see the front twist very well, and the back had some gathering in the waist area, but it's black and you can dress it up, so it's fine.
Black Pleated shield cut-out heel -
Black and silver necklace - NY and Co
Black and rhinestone bracelet - Stella McCartney for H and M
Detail of the jewelry

Some pictures from the night...

BF and myself

Earlier in the night

Later in the night, after some drinks and champagne!
